Why do the priests of the Society of St. Pius X exercise a ministry even though they lack an "official" canonical structure? In the following PDF article, the author demonstrates that the present "extraordinary" situation which has become the ordinary state of affairs in the Church for the last 40 years necessitates recourse to the "extraordinary rules" provided by the Code of Cannon Law. These rules not only justify but also obligate these priests to exercise their ministry in behalf of souls, whose salvation is the supreme law.
